Jessica Rankin

Image of Jessica Rankin at work in Highpoint’s Studio.

Jessica Rankin, often using embroidery and needlework on diaphanous panels of organdy, creates expansive maps of landscapes and the night sky dotted with codes, signs, and symbols that refer to the processes of memory, intuition, and interpretation. Mountain ranges, constellations, thermodynamic readings, lines of stream-of-consciousness text, and neurological signals morph, merge, and stretch across her artworks.

Rankin has had residencies at The Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; The Millay Colony for the Arts, Austerlitz, NY; and 200 Gertrude Street, Melbourne. She has had solo shows at The Project, New York; P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; carlier|gebauer, Berlin; and White Cube, London.

Rankin (b. 1971, Sydney, Australia) lives and works in New York and is represented by carlier | gebauer (Berlin), Salon 94 (New York), and White Cube (London)
