Stand Out Prints 2024


Highpoint Center for Printmaking is excited to announce the sixth installment of Stand Out Prints, our biannual international juried print exhibition! Opening in the fall of 2024, this exhibition will fill Highpoint’s 1,000+ square foot gallery space with select impressions of contemporary printmaking.

Exhibition Timeline:

June 27 (Thursday) - applications due

July 19 (Friday) - applicants notified

August 21 (Wednesday) - accepted work arrival deadline (not a postmark deadline)

September 6 (Friday) - exhibition opens, reception date TBA

October 12 (Saturday) - exhibition closes

Juror: Joel Garcia (Huichol) is an Indigenous artist, cultural organizer, educator, and co-founder and Director of Meztli Projects, an Indigenous-based arts and culture collaborative centering Indigeneity into the creative practice of Los Angeles. In various artistic roles, he has worked with Indigenous communities across borders to support land, access, and self-determination issues. His art explores healing and reconciliation, as well as memory and place garnering national press in publications such as the LA Times, New Yorker, and Artforum among others.

Joel is a current Stanton Fellow and has held artist residencies and fellowships at Monument Lab, Intercultural Leadership Institute, OXY ARTS, and other acclaimed projects. During his tenure at Self Help Graphics & Art (2010-2018), Joel helped revitalize the printmaking studio.

Prizes: More than $2,000 in cash prizes, purchase awards, and retail gift certificates will be awarded.

Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years of age or older and work must have been completed since 2020. While non-traditional and/or digital output is accepted as a print element, submissions must utilize one or more traditional print techniques (Lithography, Relief, Intaglio, Screenprinting, Monotype, letterpress, etc.). Three dimensional work may be submitted. Work may not exceed 48” in any direction. International artists are encouraged to apply. This is an exhibition of unframed work, work must arrive unframed. Work will be displayed behind glass cut to paper size (unless otherwise required).

Entry Fee: For consideration, we ask a modest application fee of $30. Students may apply with a reduced rate of $20. This application fee directly supports activities for the 2024 Stand Out Prints exhibition. Payment can be made through our application portal. Each applicant may submit a maximum of two images for consideration. Please contact us if you have any questions about our application process or fees.

Sales: Highpoint will retain 20% of all exhibition sales. It is not a requirement that exhibited work be available for purchase. Unsold work will be returned in its original packaging.

Shipping: Accepted work must be packaged in reusable containers. Prints may be shipped rolled in mailing tubes or flat in well-padded containers. Packaging, shipping to Highpoint, and related costs are the responsibility of the artist. Highpoint will provide return shipping of accepted artwork. Work will be returned in mid-November.
