Highpoint Center for Printmaking proudly announces its ninth international exhibition, Contemporary Prints from Central Taiwan. Curated by Jon Renzella, a former Highpoint Studio Intern and Jerome Resident who now lives and works in Taiwan, this exhibition features a variety of prints by 21 artists living and working in the Taiwanese cities of Taichung and Miaoli. The exhibition features woodcuts, relief prints, intaglio prints, and mixed media.

The exhibition features prints from thirty printmakers spanning the 35-year history of the organization and its community. This thought-provoking exhibition encompasses a myriad of techniques and perspectives expressed through works by current and past members during the tumultuous recent history of Northern Ireland.

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition of prints from David Krut Projects. From March 26 through April 24, 2010, visitors to the galleries will have the opportunity to view prints from eleven South African artists. David Krut established his print workshop in 2002 as a professional facility for collaborations between South African artists and local and international printmakers. Krut invites emerging and established artists to his Johannesburg studio to create limited edition intaglio prints and monotypes. Highpoint is honored to host this outstanding group show, which builds on HP’s history of exhibiting contemporary prints from around the world.

Graphic Reality: Mexican Printmaking Today is an exhibition of prints curated by Artemio Rodríguez of La Mano Press originally for International Print Center New York.Highpoint is pleased to announce that it will be the next stop for a traveling exhibit of prints by a young generation of Mexican artists. Lithographs, screenprints, relief prints, etchings, and other works on paper as well as innovative hybrids of printmaking and street art, skateboard culture, and animation will be presented.

Contemporary Prints from Tokyo

This winter Highpoint will present an exhibit surveying the work of printmakers living in Tokyo. Tokyo is famous for the Edo-period ukiyo-e prints that innovated the water-based woodcut technique. The spirit of innovation continues in the small private printshops, old woodcut workshops and venerable art institutions that dot the largest metropolis in the world. This exhibit will include prints by well-established artists such as Tetsuya Noda, Fudezuka Toshihisa and Yosuke Imai, as well as a variety of younger printmakers including two artists familiar to Highpoint Members—Miki Kato (former Highpoint teacher) and Tyler Starr (former Highpoint Studio Manager).

Contemporary Scottish Prints

Just in time for Spring, Highpoint is delighted to present an exhibition of contemporary prints from Scottish print studios. While attending the Artists/editions contemporary print fair in November 2005, HP’s Directors, Cole Rogers and Carla McGrath met a group of Scottish print shop directors. Impressed with the variety and quality of the prints on display in their booth in New York City, HP later proposed hosting a show of the work at HP’s Minneapolis gallery. Prints from the studios of the Edinburgh Printmakers and Glasgow Print Studio will be on display.

Love, Magic, and Ceremony

Highpoint Center for Printmaking proudly presents Yilpinji: Love, Magic, and Ceremony, a collection of prints by Kukatja and Warlpiri people of Australia’s Tanami Desert region. This international traveling exhibit, which explores the artists’ powerful tradition of love magic rituals, will debut in the U.S. when it opens at Highpoint on Friday, April 8, 2005.

Contemporary Pakistani Printmaking

Among the show’s participants are contemporary pioneers of Pakistani printmaking.
