Highpoint co-op member James Boyd Brent has said his series of intaglio prints is about “the flow of water and air, and time and space. It’s about worlds within worlds of animals and people, their dispositions; their routes and flight paths. It’s about where they are going and where they came from; the ebb and flow of moments and the interconnectedness of things even when they appear isolated.”

Highpoint is proud to announce our next international exhibition in partnership with Open Studio, Canada’s leading printmaking center. Open Studio is a non-profit, artist run center dedicated to the production, preservation and promotion of contemporary original fine art prints. Open Studio provides multi-faceted services, programs and information to artists and the public alike. As a national organization, Open Studio offers affordable and equal access to printmaking facilities, programs and services for artists from across Canada and abroad.

Highpoint hosts three Minnesota printmakers each year in our Jerome Emerging Printmakers Residency. In September 2011, Gwendolyn Comings, Jonathan McFadden, and Graham Judd were welcomed in to HP’s print facilities. This residency provided the artists 9 months access to Highpoint’s facilities, regular critiques with artists & art professionals, visits to local print collections, and of course, their culminating exhibition.

Highpoint Cooperative artist Miriam Rudolph’s prints serve as visual diaries that narrate the artist’s physical, emotional, and psychological experiences of living in four different countries and cultures (Paraguay, Germany, Canada, and the United States). This series of prints explores concepts of home and belonging, farewell and new beginnings, holding on and letting go.

Highpoint hosts hands-on printmaking classes for school visitors from the metro area and beyond. Students in grades 1 – 12 visited Highpoint to create their own relief, drypoint, and monoprints. Highpoint is proud to exhibit these works in our galleries. The Access/Print Project is a mentorship program that hosts 8 – 10 outstanding teen artists each school year. Teens receive over 70 hours of studio access and instruction in the printmaking arts to create a body of print work.

Highpoint Center for Printmaking Announces Exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is very proud to announce the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) will be hosting an exhibition of prints created during Highpoint’s first ten years (2001 – 2011). The show, Highpoint Editions – Decade One, will open on Saturday September 24 at the MIA and run through June 10, 2012. Thomas Rassieur, the John E. Andrus III Curator of Prints and Drawings at MIA, will curate the exhibition.
