Teach at Highpoint
Highpoint invites teaching artists to submit proposals for adults and youth classes. We see a wide range of learners at Highpoint, including first-time printmakers, artists interested in expanding into other media through printmaking, and advanced printmakers. Because of this, we welcome class proposals that focus on traditional printmaking methods and related mediums, experimental and non-traditional techniques, and professional practice skills. Most of our classes follow the formats below, but we are open to others:
6-week class—one evening per week plus two or three Saturday studio work sessions. Each evening session is 3 hours in length, and weekend studio sessions are 6 hours.
2-day weekend class—Saturday and Sunday, 10 am-4 pm.
1 session—could be a class, demo, or lecture that is between 2–4 hours.
Class sizes are typically 10 or 12 students in order to ensure sufficient materials, space, and instructor time for each participant.
Classes will be selected based on a variety of factors not limited to but including student interest, alignment with HP's mission, curricular goals, and scheduling.
If you have an idea for a class and would like feedback prior to submitting your proposal, please feel free to contact our Education Programs Manager, Jo, at jo@highpointprintmaking.org.
Compensation:
Teaching artists are paid for total contact hours plus 1 hour of prep/clean-up time per session at a rate of $40/hr.
Current co-op members may elect to receive a co-op credit based on total contact hours plus 1 hour of prep/clean-up time per session at a rate of $45/hr. The co-op credit must be used within 12 months of the completion of the class instruction and is non-transferable.
Further details will be provided when meeting with the education staff to schedule the class and review the contract.
If you have questions regarding proposals, please e-mail jo@highpointprintmaking.org or call 612-278-4162.
Fall 2024 class proposals are due by Sunday, September 22nd. Classes will run from mid October-December.
