Winter Cooperative Exhibition
On View: December 1, 2006 – January 26, 2007
Friday, December 1, 2006 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Highpoint Center for Printmaking announces Prints on Ice, the Tenth Printshop Cooperative Exhibition, on view December 1 through January 26, 2007. Dozens of original prints — including lithographs, screenprints, etchings, woodcuts, and more — ranging in subject from realistic landscapes and figures to expressive abstractions and experimental efforts — will be on view and for sale in this exhibit. All work in the show has been made by members of the Printshop Cooperative, a diverse group of printmakers sharing access to HP’s studio space.
Join the artists for an informal opening reception Friday, December 1, 6:30–9:00 PM. This lively event will offer guests a chance to meet and talk with many of the Co-op members and see the presses, tools, and equipment they use to create their prints. The reception is free and open to all; beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Artists who work at Highpoint have access to its state-of-the-art printmaking facilities and the invaluable stimulation of working alongside fellow printmakers. In addition, semi-annual shows provide a contact point between the artists and the community. While some Highpoint Co-op members pursue printmaking as an avocation, others are professional artists whose works are found in museums, businesses, and private residences around the region and around the country. The Co-op membership includes a number of recent art school graduates and art educators and draws participants from around the Twin Cities and regional communities.
