Summer Cooperative Exhibition

Original lithographs, screenprints, etchings, woodcuts, and monoprints will be presented during Hot off the Press, the 11th Highpoint Cooperative Exhibition, on view July 13 through August 31, 2007.The public is invited to join the artists along with their families and friends at the opening reception Friday, July 13, from 6:30–9:00 PM. Entrance to the reception is free, and beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Cooperative show openings are fun, informal events where visitors can mix with printmakers and learn about their work in the same space in which prints are produced.
Hot Off the Press features the work of almost 30 local artists who will be showing a broad range of original, recent prints. Visitors will discover large, bold, colorful works and small, intricate pieces in styles ranging from realistic to abstract and from expressive to experimental. A majority of the works will be available for purchase.
The Highpoint Cooperative includes art educators, professional artists, and passionate amateurs who are committed to printmaking as a medium of artistic expression. They value Highpoint’s state-of-the-art facilities and collegial atmosphere in which they can pursue their personal vision in media ranging from traditional forms to emerging techniques.
“This spring we completed a survey of Highpoint’s cooperative artists,” said Carla McGrath, Executive Director of Highpoint. “They appreciate the equipment and activities our center provides for their artistic growth such as access to classes and the regular co-op shows.”
In addition to the co-op shows, members’ works can be found in museums, businesses, and private residences around the region and across the country, and members’ works are frequently included in juried exhibitions.
