In this series of unique screen prints, Highpoint cooperative artist Drew Peterson explores notions of perception and attitude through five variations of the same image. Understood as an obstacle to overcome, location of surrender, and perhaps a reminder of our insignificance, the image of a nondescript landform becomes a surface to project a multiplicity of outcomes and meaning.
Peterson remarked, "In creating these works, I was interested in the way color and composition may influence our read of an image. I thought about my own variance in mood, attitude, and general disposition–– how drastically they change day to day–– and ultimately how that effects my ability to function optimistically or otherwise. Some days the pathway is laid out in gold, some beckon you to slow down, others feels shrouded in ominous dread."
