Teen Program Exhibition & Student Exhibition
On View: April 8, 2017 – May 6, 2017
Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Join us for the opening of our annual Access/Print & Look/See student exhibition, and an afternoon of youth-led screenprinting!
Access/Print is a free mentorship program that hosts 8-10 outstanding teen artists each school year. Teens receive over 70 hours of studio access and instruction in the printmaking arts to create a body of print work, which is exhibited in Highpoint's galleries upon the conclusion of the program.
Fall 2016 artists: Allison Baxter, Sinclair Myhre, Leah Peterson, and Pa Zong Vang.
Spring 2017 artists: Summer Bordon, Sarah Gallagher, Henry Louris, Alice McGee, and Fiona McKenna.
NEW this year, Access/Print teens will lead a FREE, hands-on screenprinting activity during the opening – all are welcome to try their hand at pulling a screenprint! In addition, there will be live music and a snack bar for attendees to enjoy!
The Look/See portion of the exhibition features relief, drypoint, monotype, and screen prints made by Highpoint's school aged visitors during 2016-2017. Highpoint is proud to showcase their work in our annual student exhibition. Participating schools include: Columbia Heights High School, Folwell Performing Arts Magnet, Green Central Elementary, Lyndale Community School, Mankato East High School, Orono High School, Sheridan Elementary, Southside Family Charter School, and Wellstone International High School.
Highpoint’s education programs are funded, in part, by grants from: Harlan Boss Foundation for the Arts, The Patrick and Aimee Butler Family Foundation, The Good Family Foundation, Hennepin County Green Partners Program, HRK Foundation, Martin and Brown Foundation, McKnight Foundation, Mersky Family Foundation, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, The Moore Family Foundation, Piper Jaffray, R.E. Swager Family Foundation, Target, The James R. Thorpe Foundation, Clara Ueland and Walt McCarthy, and The Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board operating support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
