Please note time change - DOG ADOPTION EVENT AT HIGHPOINT: Saturday, April 9; 2 - 4pm
Highpoint is partnering with Ruff Start Rescue to host an event featuring adoptable dogs and puppies! Additionally, 10% of most print sales from this exhibition will be donated to Ruff Start Rescue.
About the Exhibition:
The human relationship to animals is simultaneously beautiful, problematic, and above all complex. Animals are revered, respected, feared, ignored, disregarded, and adored. We identify with animals, we personify them using their behavior as metaphor for our own. While we treat certain species we like products we share our homes (and lives) with others. Assembled according to a single thematic rule, this exhibition of prints surveys the complexity of our relationship with animals, it’s not just laudatory pet portraits! Each image featured contains an animal, animals, or animal imagery as a major component. Beyond that, variations within the theme represent all manner of our interspecies interaction ranging from condemnation of their commodification to reverential depictions of companionship.
Featuring painterly monotypes, crisp woodcuts, ultra-faithful realism, and decorative stylization; variety is a defining (and exciting) aspect of this exhibition. Curator Josh Bindewald selected more than 40 prints made by 35 artists from across the United States for inclusion in the show.

About Ruff Start Rescue:
Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit companion animal rescue that primarily serves communities throughout the state of Minnesota, as well as states in the south with severe pet overpopulation. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other critters. Most of our work is accomplished by a complex network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters, all of whom come together to save thousands of animals each year.
