Curious about how Mezzotints are made? What even IS a Mezzotint?! This demonstration by printmaker Douglas Bosley will dive deep into the labor-intensive process of creating dynamic, high-contrast prints. Bosley will share the process of preparing the plate with the fine-toothed tool called a “rocker” and then burnish parts of the plate to differing degrees to achieve varying tones and highlights. After prep, Bosley will print a plate and share tips and tricks for achieving the rich, velvety black characteristic of these prints. Then head into the gallery to see a selection of new mezzotints from Linda Whitney before her exhibition closes that weekend.
