Screenprint by Jon Mahnke
Screenprinting can be found all around us, particularly in signage and the clothing we wear. We often associate it with bold, bright colors and shapes but it can also be used to make delicate, subtle images as well. Screenprinting is popular among printmakers for its economy of materials, ease of registration, and ability to lay down many colors on a print.
This course will serve as an introduction to screenprinting. Students will primarily use photographic techniques that allow you to draw directly, cut material, or output film from a computer to make your images.
Each class will start with a demonstration or presentation, but most of class time will be dedicated to working on your projects. To maximize your time in the studio, always arrive prepared to work on your prints and ideas. Students will have access to a printer to make images.
