Get ready to dive into the world of water-soluble monotypes, where drawing and painting come together in a thrilling printmaking adventure! Using vibrant water-soluble crayons and watercolor paints, you'll create stunning, one-of-a-kind designs directly on a plexiglass plate. Once your masterpiece is dry, you'll bring it to life on an etching press, where damp paper will reactivate the water-soluble materials, transferring your artwork in a burst of color and energy. The result? A bold, dynamic print with rich, vivid impressions that are as unique as you are! This hands-on process is the perfect way to explore printmaking for beginners, combining the fluidity of painting and drawing with the excitement of creating your own prints. Ready to make some art magic?
Class participants will donate one (or more!) of the prints they make in this class to Art 4 Shelter, an art sale fundraising event to benefit Simpson Housing Services. Over the past 14 years, Art 4 Shelter has raised over $1.3 million to house, support, and empower people impacted by homelessness. The 15th Anniversary Art 4 Shelter is taking place on May 1, 2025 at Quincy Hall in the Northeast Arts district of Minneapolis. All art donors are encouraged to attend!
