Students will learn to make carborundum collagraphs and create multi-color prints using watercolors mixed with gum Arabic. Demonstrations will emphasize collagraph techniques, and different approaches to applying watercolors, plate wiping, and printing. Work sessions will allow students to experiment and develop a personal approach to collagraphs.

Skill level: beginner to intermediate printmaking experience


About the instructor: Carl Nanoff (he/him) studied architecture and studio arts/printmaking in college. He worked as a draftsman/structural designer. He has been a member at Highpoint Center for Printmaking for 10+ years. He has conducted training sessions in cad design, and design project standards. His art is influenced by the geometric nature of his drafting experience, architecture, and various abstract art movements. His printmaking experience is lithography, woodcuts, dry point, and mono-prints. His current printmaking practice is to experiment and push the boundaries of traditional printmaking.
