INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safe use of the shop, materials, and equipment during classes
Stocking supplies, creating art examples, and researching special projects

INTERN REQUIREMENTS:
Interns do not need to be currently enrolled in college to apply and must be 18 or older. Interns must be able to commit to at least an average of 11 weeks for 10-15 scheduled hours per week. Preferably, Internships extend to a second consecutive term. Interns are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. Interns will also be required to work one Saturday per term for our Free Ink Day community event. The class schedule is different each week, and interns will work with the Education Manager well in advance to ensure adequate coverage. Some printmaking experience is helpful, but dependability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to learn are paramount. The most eligible candidates have experience working with youth and an interest in printmaking and/or arts education. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others are also important.
Internship Duration: One-term minimum (approximately 11 weeks); two-term maximum.
Fall term: September – December
Spring term: January – May
Summer term: June – August
Work Schedule: Variable daytime hours, typically between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday depending on class schedule and intern availability. Occasional hours during special events.
Compensation: Interns are paid $15/per hour. Studio access is granted free of charge to qualified interns. They also receive discounts on Highpoint classes, invitations to Highpoint special member events, and a discounted monthly rate for artist cooperative studio access for a full year after completion of the internship.
Note: Interns must have reliable means to travel to and from Highpoint. A car is not required.
