Our 37th annual cooperative exhibit, Prints on Ice, is on view now! With the show moving virtually this year, we want to introduce you to several of the many incredible artists featured in this year’s exhibit.
Our first featured artist is Minneapolis-based artist James Boyd Brent. Boyd Brent’s intaglio print, entitled May 27th 2020: protest! depicts the feeling of taking part in the protests following the murder of George Floyd on May 27 in Minneapolis. Brent talks about how the storytelling, action and drama embodied by this style of panoramic depiction captures a critical moment in time, and how it feels to “be” in a landscape.
This piece makes an impact because of its subject matter and spacious scenic narration, but be sure to take time to look into the small details throughout!
May 27th 2020: protest! is available for purchase; you can find more information here. Find more examples of Brent’s work here.
